Bicycle causes accident in Hondesdale

On 05/31/12 at approximately 8:17 p.m., the Honesdale Borough Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Terrace Street and Commercial Street for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicycle.

This crash occurred when 18 year old Honesdale resident James Deming failed to stop his bicycle at a stop sign and drove into the path of a 2002 Chrysler coupe driven by 73 year old Honesdale resident Kenneth Skinner. The bicycle operator was traveling south on Commercial Street. The vehicle was traveling west on Terrace Street. The bicycle impacted with the front of the Chrysler coupe.

Deming was treated by Honesdale EMS and transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. The Chrysler coupe was towed from the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Ptlm. Christopher M. Rosler and Lt. Witt investigated the crash and were assisted by Honesdale Fire Department and Honesdale Fire Police.
