On Monday 11/28/11 Village of Liberty Police detectives and Town of Fallsburg Police detectives arrested Paul Ellis, 25 of Monticello, after an investigation of a car stolen from the Xtra Mart gas station in the Village of Liberty.

Fallsburg Police identified Ellis after he was captured on surveillance video filling up the stolen car with gas and leaving a Fallsbug gas station without paying early Monday morning. Later that day the vehicle was located abandoned in Fallsburg and Ellis was located and arrested at a residence in Foxcroft Village.

Ellis was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a felony and petit larceny and criminal mischief in the fourth degree both misdemeanors by the Village of Liberty Police and additional charges are pending by Town of Fallsburg Police. Ellis was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
