On 05/03/2011, the Honesdale Borough Police investigated a collision involving a Waste Management Garbage truck that had backed into a PP&L Utility pole. The operator, 51 year old David White of Waymart, was backing down Dein Street to pick up trash. White became distracted and backed into the utility pole.
White and his passenger were not injured. The garbage truck did not sustain any damage. The utility pole was broken in half as a result of this collision.
No charges filed against the driver in this incident. Patrolman Ronald Kominski investigated.
