LIBERTY, NY — The Caregiver Resource Center (CRC) of Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County was honored to have Padma Dyvine, RN, MA, CHPN and end-of-life care practitioner, present “Presence at the Bedside, Care in the Last Days of Life” recently to 10 individuals. The caregivers all received a certificate of completion and flowers at the close of the four-hour session. Dyvine provided a discussion, reviewing the natural patterns of dying and symptom management (both medical and holistic perspectives) and followed it with an interactive experience of listening and exploring mindfulness. Before the close of the session, all caregivers shared an awareness exercise, which helped them understand how dying individuals withdraw and slowly lose what is valuable to them. The CRC is a co-partnered program between Cornell Cooperative Extension and Office for the Aging of Sullivan County, supported through a grant from the New York State Caregiver Program.
