My husband and I were out and about this Columbus Day weekend. On Friday night we were at the Forestburgh Tavern, where we saw the cast singing some of our favorite movie songs. Trent, who sang “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” sounded just like Many Patinkin—very talented. We enjoyed the great food made by Jill Pauda, and we had a really nice waiter, Brandon. We saw Gerta from Narrowsburg, Carol Montana and John from Narrowsburg Liquors. On Saturday, we drove down to Monroe to help out at the Anthony Strong fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation. The effort raised almost $30,000. What a great event! God bless these little kids fighting cancer, and they just keep smiling.

On Saturday, November 15, the Cochecton Youth group is having a make-your-own-personal-pizza party at Angelina’s on the Hill. Sign up will be held at the monthly meeting, Tuesday, November 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the new town hall. This event is open to family and friends. Six dollars buys you a personal size pizza and a drink. All Cochecton youth will be paid for by the group.

Supervisor Gary Maas and the town board have made the move to let all Cochecton groups have their monthly meetings in the new town hall. Park in lower parking lot and use THE basement door. In the future, the old town hall will be used as a museum to let the public see some of the town’s artifacts and history.

The Cochecton Republican Club is having their 5th annual Election Day chicken barbeque. It’s a drive-thru at Gasko & Meyers parking lot. A full dinner costs $10 and includes half a finger-licking-good barbequed chicken, baked potato, roll, coleslaw, cranberry sauce and a brownie. If you just want the half a chicken, the cost is $7. Advance tickets only. Call Ed Grund at 845/252-7363.

On Saturday, November 8, the Marine Corps Ball will be held at 7 p.m. at the Club at Villa Roma. The public is welcome. Tickets cost $35 per person for dinner, music and dancing. There will be a cash bar. Call Bob Deman at 845/252-7208 or John Cirelli at 845/252-3235 for tickets or information.

Have a great week and e-mail leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
