BEACH LAKE, PA — On Sunday June 15 percussionist Obi Kaye will present a program for the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (UDUUF) focusing on the spiritual aspects of drumming and its religious uses in different cultures from shamanic (meditative) to ritual (ecstatic) drumming. He will touch on how it used to be employed in early Western traditions, including its use in the early Judeo Christian and Islamic traditions as well as its use in Native American, West African and Eastern traditions. Obi Kaye has performed with numerous jazz and “world” groups and has produced six CDs. His program will include some drumming.
This program will begin at 10:15 a.m. at the Berlin Township Community Center. Refreshments and a social time will follow the service.
