It has been a cold January and the month has just started. With the recent snows and sub-zero temperatures many of us have spent more time at home and indoors, perhaps resulting in some introspection leading to New Year’s resolutions. The problem with resolutions is they are often a bit too grand, or we promise the same ones year after year. Why not do something different this year? Make a resolution that is truly attainable and useful at the same time?

Here is an idea: Go to our library and brush up on your computer skills, or maybe learn to use the new computer Santa left. The library website explains their program as follows: “Launched in 2010, Western Sullivan Public Library’s Public Computer Center (PCC) provides free computer support services and instruction at all three branches of the library. The PCC was established through a statewide initiative, Broadbandexpress@yourlibrary, funded initially by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The program is now funded by the library directly. The PCC provides computer classes on a variety of topics from beginner computing to advanced topics like multimedia, web design and business courses. Computer support is also available where patrons may walk in with any questions and receive assistance… Starting in January 2014, the PCC will extend its hours to Saturdays in Narrowsburg from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for support and from 1 to 3 p.m. for a computer class on one of our many topics.” Additional classes are held in Narrowsburg every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. No excuses. You are able to become a computer wizard now, and it really beats the old diet resolution. Call 845/252-3360 for more information.

Stay warm, safe and healthy, and enjoy 2014.
