NORTH BRANCH, NY — On Saturday, August 20, artists will gather at Hestia’s Garden in North Branch, NY for “Art in the Garden,” a morning of plein air painting from 9 am to 1 pm followed by an afternoon art show and opening reception, including some of the works painted that day.
The public is invited to enjoy the free art show on both Saturday, August 20 from 2 to 4 pm and Sunday, August 21 from 11 am to 3 pm at Hestia’s Garden, 914 Buck Brook Road in North Branch, NY.
Popularized by French Impressionists, the practice of plein air is still flourishing today. Artists set up temporary easels outdoors and work quickly to capture the color and light of natural landscapes.
Darlene Midlang, owner of Hestia’s Garden, says, “Since initiating the design of Hestia's Garden in 2011, I've been dreaming of the day when the gardens would welcome art work from some of the many talented artists who call New York home. Joining with Delaware Valley Arts Alliance to hold ‘Art in the Garden’ is a dream come true!"
Painters who would like to participate on August 20 must register in advance by calling Delaware Valley Arts Alliance at 845/252-7576. Registration costs $10.
The event is co-hosted by DVAA and Hestia’s Garden. For more information, visit delawarevalleyartsalliance.org or call 845/252-7576. To learn more about Hestia’s Garden, visit hestiasgarden.com.
