HONESDALE, PA — International musical trio Pericopes +1 will be at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St. on Saturday, July 18, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Pericopes + 1 began in 2009 as a jazz duo in northern Italy started by Italian pianist Alessandro Sgobbio and saxophonist Emiliano Vernizzi. Vernizzi first met American drummer Nick Wight in early 2012 while they were on tour together in Europe.

“We quickly realized that we had a lot in common,” says Emiliano Vernizzi. “We share similar influences, familiar paths and the desire to eliminate borders through music,” adds Wight.

The trio’s balance of improvisation and composition blends elements of post-rock, avant garde, European/American folk music, Afro-American and other ethnic music styles.
