Weekend of Chamber Music sneak peek

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — A guided tour of “Persistence of Vision,” Weekend of Chamber Music’s (WCM) 22nd annual summer music festival, will take place on Saturday, May 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Catskill Art Society Center.

The Weekend of Chamber Music Festival, which has its home base at the idyllic Eddie Adams Farm in Jeffersonville, has become one of the area’s most venerable cultural institutions. Concerts indoors and out; social gatherings; imaginative talks, open rehearsals and plenty of close connection between audience, musicians and music are all part of the fun, which will take place this year from July 11 to 26. Several of the 11 programs presented during the festival will travel to venues including Honesdale, North Branch, Callicoon, Loch Sheldrake and Bethel. Complete festival details and tickets are available at WCMconcerts.org.

At this sneak peek event, WCM’s artistic co-directors Andrew Waggoner and Caroline Stinson will demystify and contextualize the “Persistence of Vision” music festival theme with analysis, discussion and performance. The duo will improvise and perform excerpts from festival music by Gabriel Fauré and John Corigliano, with Waggoner on violin and Stinson on cello. A sampling of film clips and film music will tie in to the festival’s title and illustrate the award-winning composer’s film scores.

Seating is limited. Admission is free and open to the public, but reservations are strongly recommended.
