HONESDALE, PA — RiverFolk Concerts welcomes back Karen Savoca and Pete Heitzman to The Cooperage on Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. The duo will play soul, R&B, roots and world rhythms.

Savoca is the daughter of a big-band singer, and her baby diary reads “20 months, knows six songs.” At age eight she asked for piano lessons, and at 13 began composing on a guitar she bought with saved birthday money. Heitzman, a Syracuse native, was playing in clubs at 15. He carved out a reputation as a first- rate guitarist capable of playing many styles, touring the country with a variety of bands. He met Savoca during a trip to his hometown, and he joined her group the next day.

The duo has released eight CDs on their own Alcove Records label. Notable appearances include “The Today Show” and “A Prairie Home Companion.” They are currently working on their ninth recording.

Suggested donation is $15 reserved or $20 at the door.

Reservations suggested; call 845/252-6783 or email riverfolkconcerts@frontier.com. Visit riverfolkconcerts.com or karensavoca.com. The concert is BYOB, with food available.
