HONESDALE, PA — Scott Ainslie will perform in concert on Saturday, September 8, at 8 p.m. at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St.

The concert will be preceded by a workshop titled “Blues You Can Use,” at 4 p.m. Limited to 20 people, the workshop costs $30 and is by advance reservation. The roots-oriented class will look at ragtime and Delta blues, as well as slide guitar basics with a focus on solo blues playing, in the tradition of greats like Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Blake and David “Honeyboy” Edwards.

Philip Van Vleck of The Spectator wrote, “The most gratifying thing about Ainslie’s performance was that while he talked blues like a historian, he played them like a bluesman. He lives in the groove, and he hears the passion and even the fear in the music. He treats the blues right, and he always takes care to catch up the crowd in what he’s doing.”

The suggested donation for the concert is $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Reservations can be made at 845/252-6783. BYOB. Light fare is available from the Willow River Café from 7 p.m. Visit www.RiverFolkConcerts.vpweb.com, www.cattailmusic.com and www.thecooperageproject.org.
