NARROWSBURG, NY — “On Belonging,” an evening of four short plays, will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 3 at the Tusten Theatre.
“On Belonging” is an initiative by Standing People Together Theatre, designed to draw on the voices of the community. The project was developed in part through funding provided by a Sullivan 180 grant.
It features the performances of four original plays written by local playwrights, each exploring a different response to the idea of belonging (or not) in a particular place and time.
The plays include:
Tiffany Esteb’s “Diner,” about three waitresses coping with repetitive frenetic activity and anti-immigrant hate.
Cynthia Nash’s “The Crossing,” in which generational narratives span time and the private memories of life in, on and around the Skinners Falls Bridge. [Nash has contributed pieces to the River Reporter.]
Greg Thomas’s “The Birthday List” explores the loving but fragile relationship between two longtime friends as one of them transitions from man to woman.
Laura Moran’s “The Cathedral” explores the tension between a lifetime building a traditional dream, then sacrificing it so others might live.
The actors include Ellie J, Nick Lopez, Erinn Gilmore, Cass Collins and Eric Feinblatt.
The plays are directed by Caroline Baillie and Feinblatt.
Music is performed by the Poison Love Band.
