REGIONAL — The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River (UDS&RR) invites the public to help save lives by showing their support for water safety on “Wear Your Life Jacket to Work (or Home)” Day on Friday, May 15.
This annual event, hosted by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) serves as a fun and educational way to kick off National Safe Boating Week, May 16 to 22.
The National Safe Boating Council and UDS&RR are asking every participant to take a picture of themselves in their life jacket while at work (or at home) and post it on social media along with the hashtag #lifejacket2work and tagging @boatingcampaign (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) and on Upper Delaware’s Facebook page @updeNPS and Instagram @upperdelawarenps.
The Safe Boating Campaign will choose winners randomly throughout the day to receive boating swag such as t-shirts, dry bags, first aid kits, stickers, and more.
SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) invites his district’s high school students to participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. The winner will have their art displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the year.
All high school students who live in New York’s 19th Congressional District are eligible to submit entries to NY19.Art@mail.house.gov. The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event hosted by the House of Representatives, allowing high school students from across the country to showcase their artistic talents. The winning piece from each Congressional District is displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a full year.
“Visiting schools and working with students across upstate New York, I know we have tremendously talented young people. I am excited to invite NY-19 high school students to participate in the Congressional Art Competition,” said Rep. Antonio Delgado. “During these difficult times, it is more important than ever to find creative outlets and joy through the arts. I look forward to seeing the different pieces created by students across the district and hanging a piece of home in the halls of the U.S. Capitol.”
Images of the artwork must be received via email no later than Monday, June 1, and a release form must be submitted along with each submission. Guidelines for submission can be found at www.bit.ly/RRdelgadoguidelines and the release form can be found at www.bit.ly/RRreleaseform.
