Wayne Memorial temporarily closes three lab sites

HONESDALE, PA — Due to a need to re-allocate staff to the hospital, Wayne Memorial Laboratory Services is temporarily closing its blood-draw sites in Tafton and Forest City as of December 28. A third site, the Waymart Outpatient Center, was closed for the same reason last week.

The following outpatient laboratory sites are open: the Route 6 Mall in Honesdale, the Pike County Medical Center in Lords Valley, the Hamlin Family Health Center and the Carbondale Family Health Center.

Wayne Agency on Aging curtails services

HONESDALE, PA — In light of the current state restrictions on in-person dining and gatherings, the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging has suspended congregate meals and activities.

The restrictions pertain to all three Senior Centers in Honesdale, Hawley and Hamlin as well as the Adult Daily Living Center in Hawley. Both drive-through and delivered meals will be available with advance reservations. Call the appropriate facility at least 24 hours in advance: Honesdale Senior Center (570/253-5540), Hawley Senior Center (570/226-4209) and Adult Daily Living Center (570/390-7388).

Officials at the agency tentatively plan to resume congregate meals and activities on January 4, 2021.

Waymart Family Health Center to reopen

WAYMART, PA — Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) welcomes Certified Physician Assistant Marci Kowalewski, PA-C, to its staff and announces the reopening of the Waymart Family Health Center at 29 Woodlands Dr. in Waymart.

According to WMCHC Executive Director Frederick Jackson, the primary care office is expected to open in early January, 2021. Kowalewski has been seeing patients in Waymart for more than 25 years.

‘All for Ag – Thank You Bags’

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — This holiday season, Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCE) celebrates farmers with an “All for AG – Thank You Bag” to remind our producers that they are appreciated.

Agriculture represents one of the largest economic sectors in Sullivan County. Farms create direct economic benefits by providing residents with fresh, nutrient-rich foods.

The public is invited to show their support by donating to the cause, and/or nominating their favorite local farmer. Nominations can be anonymous but must include a short description of why the farmer was chosen, and the nominee’s contact information for bag delivery.

UDC helps food pantry in Lackawaxen Township

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) contributed $14,847.18 to Lackawaxen Township on December 21 to support The Care Cabin in its mission to provide food for those in need.

The funding came out of the $100,000 “Townships, Technology & Sustainability” grant that Pennsylvania Representatives Jonathan Fritz and Mike Peifer, along with Sen. Lisa Baker, secured for the UDC in 2019.

Initiated through fundraising efforts and operated by Growing Lackawaxen, Inc. (GL), The Care Cabin was constructed as a 24’ by 32’ structure on township property at 169 Urban Rd., Hawley, PA and opened in September of 2019.

The nonprofit GL partners with Second Harvest and the Emergency Food Assistance Program to serve Lackawaxen residents and the greater community. More than 75 percent of Lackawaxen Township’s children enrolled in the Wallenpaupack Area School District qualify for free or reduced lunches. In its first three months, The Care Cabin fed 14 local families, which quickly increased to 30, then to 52 by November.

Dimeco, Inc. declares cash dividend

HONESDALE, PA — On December 17, the board of directors of Dimeco, Inc. declared a dividend of $0.34 per share, payable to shareholders of record on December 31, 2020. The dividend will be paid on Thursday, January 21, 2021. This dividend is an increase of $0.01 from the dividend declared in September 2020. The total dividend declared for the year 2020 is $1.33 per share, an increase of $0.10, or 8.13 percent over that declared for the year 2019.  A dividend of $0.34 per share produces a yield of 4.16 percent based on the December 17, 2020 market value of $32 per share.
