HONESDALE, PA — With orientation now under their belt, 15 new teachers are ready for a new school year at the Wayne Highlands School District. The orientation is a vital part of the teacher induction program, assistant superintendent Timothy Morgan said.

In that program, the district provides professional support through mentoring for teachers in their first and second year. New teachers are paired with experienced mentor teachers who volunteer in their grade level or content area.

The purpose of the August 18 orientation was to explain the educational philosophies, policies, and methods the new teachers will need in providing an exemplary educational program.

Superintendent Gregory Frigoletto, Wayne Highlands Education Association member Elliot Zackoski, Director of Special Education Amanda Kerna, Assistant Director of Special Education Erika Cavanaugh, and District Technology Supervisor Scott Miller also participated in the day.
