Wayne County sentencing information: July 22

Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announces the following cases were addressed by the Honorable Janine Edwards, President Judge Wayne County Court:

VINCENT LLOYD CASTELLANO, age 33 of Simpson PA, was sentenced to 36 months probation with 90 days house arrest through the SCRAM program for one count of DUI – Alcohol/Schedule 1 Controlled Substance (M1). He was also ordered to pay the cost of prosecution, pay a mandatory minimum fine of $1,500.00, participate and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment in accordance with his assessment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and maintain employment or provide documentation from a doctor precluding him from employment. The incident occurred on April 19, 2019 in Dyberry Township.

NICHOLAS MICHAEL CLOSE, age 32 of Honesdale PA, was sentenced to 6 months probation for one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommendations for treatment, and maintain employment or provide documentation from a doctor precluding him from employment. The incident occurred on August 12, 2019 in Hawley Borough.

MATTHEW CHARLES GRIFFIN, age 19 of Hawley PA, was placed on 6 months probation with 72 hours house arrest through the SCRAM program for one count of DUI/Scheduled 1 Controlled Substance (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a mandatory minimum fine of $1,000.00, participate and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment in accordance with his assessment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, undergo a mental health evaluation and comply with treatment recommendations, complete 25 hours of community service, and maintain employment or provide documentation from a doctor precluding him from employment. The incident occurred on October 25, 2020 in Cherry Ridge Township.

LUKE ANDREW LAKATOS, age 20 of Coopersburg PA, was sentenced to 6 months probation with 30 days house arrest through the SCRAM program. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a mandatory minimum fine of $750.00, participate and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment in accordance with his drug and alcohol assessment, and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program.  The incident occurred on July 11, 2020 in Paupack Township.

PAUL CHRISTOPHER MANNINO, age 48 of Preston Park PA, was sentenced to undergo incarceration in a State Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 15 months nor more than 120 months followed by a mandatory period of 3 years probation for one count of Corruption of Minors-Related to Sexual Offense (F3) and one count of Terroristic Threats (M1). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay restitution in the amount of $10,000.00, relinquish any firearms and ammunition to law enforcement within 24 hours of parole, and register as a Tier I sexual offender for 15 years. The incident occurred on October 1, 2020 in Preston Township.

STEPHEN EMERY NAGY, age 56 of Lake Ariel PA, was sentenced to undergo incarceration in the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 3 days nor more than 6 months for one count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Highest Rate (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a mandatory minimum fine of $1,000.00, participate and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment in accordance with his assessment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and contact Wayne Memorial Behavioral Health within 5 days to schedule an appointment and comply with recommendations for treatment. The incident occurred on November 5, 2020 in Salem Township.

MATTHEW BRADFORD SCALCO, age 34 of Hawley PA, was issued a Bench Warrant for failure to appear for sentencing.

WAYNE A. TOMPKINS, age 38 of Honesdale PA, was sentenced to undergo incarceration in a state Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 21 months nor more than 60 months for one count of Involuntary Manslaughter (M1). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution and relinquish any firearm and ammunition to law enforcement within 24 hours of parole. The incident occurred on September 25, 2019 in Lehigh Township.
