HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell has announced the arrest of Mark D. McElroy, 45, Honesdale, on charges of corruption of minors, harassment, and disorderly conduct. Wayne County Detectives and Honesdale Borough Police launched an investigation into McElroy’s online conduct with children under the age of 18, after receiving reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

According to the criminal complaint and affidavit of probable cause filed by Wayne County Detective Michael McMorrow and Honesdale Borough Police Detective Lieutenant Robert Langman, the complainant in this case was contacted and disclosed that the defendant was recently on Instagram and TikTok asking children between the ages of 8 to 12 years old to provide or post videos of themselves urinating in their pants.

The complainant also provided detectives with screen shots of messages connected to the defendant’s conduct online. In the messages, McElroy is observed to be talking about lewd, graphic, and inappropriate topics for minor children.

McElroy was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Myers today, January 25, for the charges filed by Detective McMorrow and Detective Lieutenant Robert Langman. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

The next court appearance for McElroy has been scheduled for February 3 at 9 a.m.
