Wayne County Ag Day a success

HONESDALE, PA — The new, expanded Ag Day, held at the Wayne County fairgrounds, drew a crowd.

Organized by the Penn State Cooperative Extension of Wayne County, the event brought together farmers, people thinking about becoming farmers, people just interested in agriculture, agricultural organizations and nonprofits, and more. The goal was for people to network and learn about new ag technologies and services, new products, new machinery and the many programs and services available from local agribusinesses, associations and industry supporters.

It was also a chance for people to learn about agriculture and its importance for Wayne County and for people overall.

The organizers thanked the day’s sponsors: Dairy Farmers of America for the cheese and milk, Calkins Creamery for cheese, Creamworks Creamery for milk and ice cream, Keating Family Ice Cream, Hardler Farm for the summer sausage, Brian Fox and Salem Mountain Farm for the daikon radishes,  Applewood Farm, Cherry Ridge Vet Clinic, Cochecton Mills, Edward Fritsch, Ellday Farm, First National Community Bank, the Cooperage Project, Town and Country Energy, Waymart Milling Company, Wayne County Holstein Club and the Wayne County Public Library.

Special credit went to the Red Schoolhouse for catering the meal.
