BETHEL, NY — James and Karen Reilly’s family are rearing pheasants for a 4-H project.
Daughter Megan and son Will are the primary caretakers of the pheasants, but the whole family is involved. They’ve been photographing the birds and posting the pictures on Facebook at Karen Walko Reilly in the 2023 Pheasants! album.
The family started the year with 60 pheasants. Currently, the chicks are about two weeks old, Reilly said, and are housed in brooders in the garage. After they grow a bit more, they will be moved to an outdoor coop.
