HONESDALE, PA — Area students recently finished a 10-week personal budgeting and investing challenge sponsored by The Dime Bank. At the end of the competition, a student from Wallenpaupack Area School District, working under the guidance of teacher Colleen Connors, took the top spot in the budgeting challenge. In the investing challenge, a Delaware Valley student working with teacher Audrey Dennis won first place.
“The Dime Bank is a firm advocate of financial literacy for all, but especially for our youth,” said president and CEO Peter Bochnovich. “We believe that educating our students provides a strong foundation for financial success throughout their lives.”
Top-earning students took home cash prizes for their efforts, including a $100 gift card and a Chromebook for the investing challenge winner.
“A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing teachers who’ve supported and inspired their students throughout this challenge. Your dedication is what makes it all possible,” said Carolyn A. Shirk, vice president of Brighter Financial Futures, a 501(c)(3) that sponsors financial literacy and entrepreneurship educational programs in PA. “At Brighter Financial Futures, we’re proud to empower the next generation with real-world money skills that will serve them for a lifetime.”
