LIBERTY, NY — April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, a time to recognize the incredible contributions of volunteers who strengthen our communities. Sullivan 180 invites all to be a part of this season of grassroots engagement by attending the Volunteer and Community Health Champion orientation on Thursday, May 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the CVI Building, 1 Cablevision Center Dr.
Sullivan 180 is seeking volunteers to help build a healthier community through people, places and policy. Volunteers play a key role in driving positive change, as every action, no matter its size, helps create a meaningful and lasting impact, an organization staff member said.
Individuals can serve as Sullivan 180 volunteers, community health champions, or can work on community projects. Opportunities are tailored to skills, interests, and availability. Volunteers might beautify schools and public spaces, teach workshops, lead health and wellness programs, or support outreach efforts.
The benefits of volunteering extend far beyond the community—it also enhances personal well-being. A review by AmeriCorps found that volunteers experience lower mortality rates, improved functional ability and reduced rates of depression compared to non-volunteers.
Pre-registration for this free event is requested at www.Sullivan180.org or by calling the office at 845/295-2680.
