LIBERTY, NY — This March, Sullivan 180 experienced a month full of exciting events, key developments and meaningful milestones in prevention programming. After the most recent training, there are now more than 200 teachers, public health professionals and community partners trained to deliver the CATCH My Breath program to Sullivan County youth.
In addition, over 550 students Liberty, Monticello, Eldred and Roscoe school districts as well as the SUNY Sullivan Liberty Partnerships Program have graduated from the CATCH My Breath program.
Recently, Sullivan 180 connected with parents and caregivers of Liberty Middle School students. Amanda Langseder, Sullivan 180 senior director of prevention programming, presented the CATCH My Breath Parent & Caregiver Workshop to 15 parents, students and school staff. Participants learned facts on the vaping epidemic, common roadblocks to having the talk about tobacco and vaping, how to talk to a child about smoking and vaping, how to answer tough questions and how families can tackle the vaping epidemic.
One parent at the presentation said she “plans to share this information with her children and other children, parents and families.”
Those interested can schedule the parent and caregiver workshop at their school, PTA/PTO or community group. The next CATCH My Breath facilitator training will take place on July 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at CCE Sullivan; registration can be completed by emailing trainings@sullivan180.org.
