Two more COVID-19 deaths within Wayne County

Posted

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — Coroner Edward Howell has released a report that two individuals tested positive and have died from COVID-19 on April 24 and April 26 within the "geographical county jurisdiction" of Wayne County.  This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to six in Wayne County.

The coroner's number is different from the PA Department of Health's figure, which currently counts 3 deaths for Wayne County. Whereas the coroner counts the number of deaths that occured inside of the county itself, the Department of Health calculates county death statistics based on where the individuals claimed residence, regardless of where in the world they passed away.

Here is the complete list of Wayne County COVID-19 deaths according to the coroner's office:

  1. White female, age 57, from Pike County, died in the hospital on April 5,
  2. White female, age 63, from Pike County, died in the hospital on April 5
  3. White male, age 65, from Wayne County, died in the hospital on April 14
  4. White female, age 75, from Pike County, died in the hospital on April 14
  5. White female, age 66, from Wayne County, died in the hospital on April 24
  6. Asian female, age 69, from Manhattan, NY, died in the hospital on April 26
