The weather here sure has been chaotic since the beginning of April, but it certainly appears like Mother Nature has calmed down a bit. Looking forward to warmer days.

April 2 marked the first day of trout season. If you are fishing this season, be sure to get your fishing license! It’s the perfect way to spend a spring or summer day.

Mark your calendars for these upcoming events.

The Ladies Aid Society will have a penny social on April 30. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and calling begins at 12:30 p.m. Hot dogs and sauerkraut and a beverage are available for purchase and there’s cake and coffee after the calling. Masks required. Donation $1. It’s being held at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church. Hope to see you there!

The Bethel Lions Club is offering three $1,000 college scholarships for the fall 2022 semester of college, to high school seniors living in Bethel full time and attending one of the three district high schools: Monticello, Liberty or Sullivan West. Criteria for receiving a scholarship include service to community and school, academics, character (which requires a letter of reference from a guidance counselor or teacher) and extracurricular activities. Applications are available at the schools' guidance counselors' offices. A completed and signed application must be returned to the guidance counselor before the close of the school day on or before Friday, May 6. For more information, contact Bethel Lion Al Frangipane at (c) 845/866-6540 or (h) 845/513-5811.

B&P tent rentals are booking quickly for the 2022 event season.  Let them help you with your BBQ, birthday party, yard sale or any other outdoor event you can think of. Call or text them at 914/262-9132 for pricing or booking details.

The Town of Liberty is holding a lifeguard certification class on June 11, 12 and 13 at the Hanofee park pool in Liberty. The registration deadline is Friday, June 3. You must be at least 15 years old and be able to swim 300 yards with rhythm, tread water and depth dive with weight. Contact James at the Town of Liberty Parks & Recreation Department at 845/292-7690 to register for this course.

Congratulations to the Sullivan West Drama Clubs (both the elementary and the high school) for amazing performances this year! The cast and crew of both shows dedicated a large amount of time to ensure spectacular performances. I cannot wait to see what shows are performed next year.

It is with great sadness to announce that Justine Day, a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary, passed away recently. Sincere condolences to her family and friends.
