DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP, PA — The new 4-H year began on October 1 and already the Tri-Gal 4-H Club has been in action with community service opportunities.
And what better way to celebrate National 4-H Week (October 6-12) than showing others what 4-H youth can do?
Our club donated a raffle basket prize for Sue Young’s cancer treatment benefit and a raffle basket for the Mike Roloson cancer treatment benefit.
We also did our fall Adopt a Highway roadside cleanup on Rutledgedale Road, Wescott Road and a portion of Galilee Road. We thank you for helping us keep the roadsides litter-free.
It was an easy decision to try to help with donations for Hurricane Helene efforts. Before our meeting on October 6, we collected items from the community from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Unity Grange Hall in Galilee. Thank you to everyone who dropped off items.
Our club members also brought donations. We collected much-needed items such as hygiene products, cleaning products, baby formula, diapers and wipes, as well as paper products. Our key leader took the donations to the trucks in Honesdale on October 7.
We want to say thank you to Marshall Machinery, Fox Ledge, Diehl Trucking (Andy Diehl is a 4-H family member) and Top Notch Distributors for coordinating this effort.
We have over five holiday community service projects coming up and we are excited to help others while learning about the importance of community service.
On November 5 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Unity Grange Hall in Galilee, we held our annual General Election Bake Sale. The proceeds from this bake sale help us to continue our work in the community and fund our club activities. Your support of this sale is greatly appreciated.
