Tonight: Hiroya Tsukamoto at the Cooperage

HONESDALE, PA — Tonight, Friday, April 22, come listen to guitarist and songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto at Honesdale’s Cooperage.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tsukamoto, born and raised in Kyoto, is a one-of-a-kind guitarist and composer. In 2000, he received a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music and came to the U.S. Since then, he has been performing internationally, including at the United Nations, at Blue Note in New York and on Japanese national television.

Most recently, he took second place in the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2018.

Tsukamoto has released six albums, including the recent “Window to the World,” recorded at Maine Music Mill.

For the last several years, “I have been going town to town playing shows in many different places,” he writes on his website. “And that became my lifestyle. I wanted to capture what I am doing. I was thinking of alternative ways to do it instead of the regular studio recording process.”

This experience evolved into the current album.

Acoustic Guitar magazine described his fingerpicking as delicate, fluid and beautifully detailed.” The Boston Herald called his music an “impressionistic journey.”

Tickets cost $15 in advance and $25 at the door.

To register, call 570/253-2020 or email info@thecooperageproject.org.
