Tim Dymond: The leader Sullivan County needs to combat the opioid crisis

Posted

Sullivan County continues to grapple with the devastating opioid crisis, a scourge that demands experienced and committed leadership.  Tim Dymond, with his vast experience combating drug-related issues, is uniquely qualified to tackle this challenge as our next Sheriff.  His dedication and determination to best serve the county's residents are, in my view, simply unmatched.

Tim's career exemplifies a proactive and community-focused approach to law enforcement.  From his foundational work as an NYPD officer and with the Fallsburg PD, he subsequently joined the New York State Police, graduated at the top of his academy class and eventually earned Troop F Trooper of the Year.  His commitment to dismantling criminal networks led him to become a BCI investigator, where he worked undercover in narcotics enforcement.  He personally sacrificed for our safety, embedding himself within criminal organizations trafficking heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and guns. He spearheaded complex investigations, expertly navigating wire-taps and securing successful prosecutions, removing dangerous drugs and criminals from our streets.

As one of the youngest senior investigators in New York State history, Tim's leadership and extensive on-the-ground experience allowed him to coordinate multiple investigations, significantly broadening his impact.

Beyond direct enforcement, Tim's innate empathy, a gift from his late parents Calvin and Mary Dymond, led him to understand the tremendous emotional toll police work takes on our invaluable law enforcement officers.  This understanding drove him to serve as the New York State Police Investigator’s Association Union president, tirelessly advocating for his colleagues and further expanding his toolkit in the realm of politics and legislation.

Despite his statewide responsibilities, Tim remained active in our community, notably coaching high school sports and serving on the school board.

His dedication to family and community is profound;  I have known Tim for 25 years and have witnessed his incredible ability to make people and communities around him better.  A natural born leader.

I first witnessed his amazing ability to inspire and motivate others when I was a sophomore in high school playing football with Tim as a senior, leading us to a section IX championship.  He always knew what to say and what to do to give you hope, and to make sure you kept fighting when it seemed an overwhelming struggle.  He didn’t just talk, he led by example, and has continued to grow this ability ever since.

If there is anyone that could give hope and motivation to the younger generation of police and correction officers in times of need, it is Tim.  His presence will breathe life into those he leads, and give hope to the young officers, confirming that what they are doing is worthwhile.

With Tim Dymond as sheriff, Sullivan County will have a leader who is truly committed to tackling the opioid crisis head-on, holding criminals accountable, and ensuring the safety and health of our community, all while supporting those who serve us.  I am proudly voting for Tim Dymond in the Republican primary election.
