Thomas “Tom” Raymond Braverman, 72, of Darby, MT, passed away due to prostate cancer on Thursday, June 11, 2020, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1948 in Youngstown, OH as an only child to Harry and Miriam (Gutman) Braverman. He spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY. As a young adult, he enjoyed backpacking throughout the United States and Europe. Tom studied philosophy at the University of Chicago for two years before leaving the U of C for a decade of travel, playing the alto saxophone and odd jobs. He settled in California where he played alto saxophone. On January 15, 1979, he married Ann Marie Johnson in Reno, NV. As a couple, they traveled extensively, living in California and Alaska, before moving back to his family’s land in Tyler Hill, PA. He later took an interest in computers and became a software programmer. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, writing, discussing politics, traveling and playing the flute. In his retirement, he self-published a book of philosophy.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ann; sons Matthew Braverman (daughter-in-law Kathleen Braverman) of Darby, MT, and Joel Braverman (daughter-in-law Tricia Mathew) of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren Delaware and Beatrix Braverman.

There are no services planned at this time, but the family spent time in remembrance of their beloved husband, father and grandfather at one of Tom’s favorite locations at Blodgett Canyon, MT.
