Spring Break week has come and gone, and we are gearing up for all things spring! Gardens are coming together, morning walks around the lake are starting, and plans for summer are being made.

Here are a few upcoming local events that are happening in our community and nearby towns.

Save the date: the Cochecton Preservation Society celebrates 30 years after the shovel hit the dirt! Together they will remember the people who helped them along the way to rescue the Erie depot. The remembrance dinner buffet will take place on Sunday, April 30 at 3 p.m. at the Central House. The price is $45 per person. There will be a collection of pictures and good stories for friends to share. Mickey Barnett will perform the wonderful songs from the album he produced, “All Aboard!“ RSVP by Saturday, April 15.

Learn more at cochectonpreservationsociety.com, email cps12726@gmail.com, or call Keith at 845/932-8923 or call 845/932-8104.

Save the date: Lake Huntington Lake Association first annual Earth Day celebration will take place on Saturday, April 29 from 11  a.m. to 1 p.m. at 6692 Rte. 52, Lake Huntington, NY. More details to follow when available.

There will be a penny social on Saturday, April 15 at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church on County Route 116. The doors open at 11:30 a.m., and calling starts at 12:30 p.m. The cost is a donation of $1. Hope to see you there. For questions, call Vicki at 845/932-8923 or Grace at 570/729-8247.

The church is also looking for school students or adults to help them as runners at the penny social. Runners take the prize to the winner. If interested, call Vicky at 845/932-8923.

Lots of great programs coming up this month at the Western Sullivan Public Library.  A Family Garden class will be held on Monday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m.; a Home Spa lab for tweens and teens will be held on Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m., and a take-and-make bird house craft is planned—register by Sunday, April 23 and pick up starts on Wednesday, April 26.

Feel free to sign your little ones up for any program that feels age appropriate.  For info and to register, visit bit.ly/3kzLiDj.
