BARRYVILLE, NY — The Barryville Farmers’ Market has found a way to support local farmers and safely provide farm-fresh food to customers. Tote-bags filled with offerings from local farmers and purveyors are available for purchase and curbside delivery.

Choose from the omnivore (vegetables, dairy and meat), the carnivore (meat only). the sausage lover (all sausage), the vegetarian (eggs, cheese and vegetables) and the brunch bag (all the fixings). There is a limited number available of each option.

Each week, ordering opens on Tuesday for the upcoming Saturday. There are a limited number of bags available. The bags are pre-packaged; substitutions will not be accommodated. However, you may include add-ons that must be ordered separately and will be included in your bag.

Prices are all-inclusive and all proceeds go directly to the farmers, except for a $10 tote-bag fee and $2 for payment services.

Free classes in April from Penn State Extension

ONLINE — Penn State Extension is offering more than 50 courses from its online library for free through the month of April. Online courses are accessible anywhere, anytime, online at your own pace.

Receive on-demand access from Penn State subject matter experts in areas like food safety, nutrition and preparation; best agricultural practices; horticulture; environmental stewardship; community involvement; successful business; and healthy families.

Some courses offer the certificates and/or continuing education credits necessary to remain professionally current and credentialed.

Telehealth services for established patients

ONLINE — The Greater Hudson Valley Health System Medical Group, comprised of Orange Regional Medical Group and Catskill Regional Medical Group, is offering telehealth to their established patients.

Established patients may be able to have an appointment over the phone with their primary care and specialty care providers. The service, which will include more features soon, provides a safe environment from the comfort of the patient’s home with no travel and little wait time. Not every medical issue is appropriate for a phone appointment, but some are a possibility particularly important follow-up appointments that provide a continuum of care. Telehealth is covered by most insurance and copays for Telehealth visits will be waived.

HPAC launches social media campaign and event streaming series

ONLINE — The Hurleyville Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) is finding creative ways to connect with audiences.

HPAC is launching a social media campaign, #StayStrongMakeArt, and is asking residents of the Hudson Valley and the Catskills to use the hashtag when posting art of any genre on Instagram or Facebook. HPAC staff will select the best posts for online exhibitions organized by guest curators on Gallery222’s website.

Once it is safe to do so, Gallery222 Coordinator Ellyane Hutchinson will organize a physical exhibition of the poetry, dances, collages, weavings, videos and more created during social distancing.

This week, the organization kicked off HPAC Live From Home—a new series of online events—with an interview and studio visit with acclaimed visual artist Sharon Molloy on April 7 via the video conferencing platform Zoom. More events will be announced soon.

SALT product drive

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Sullivan Agencies Leading Together (SALT) is running a non-perishable food and hygiene product drive for Sullivan County residents who are in need. Hygiene Items will include, but not limited to toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, etc.

 There are designated drop-off spots in the county where volunteers will make daily pickups to ready for distribution. Currently those drop-off points are the Miss Monticello Diner on Broadway in Monticello and the Weigh Station in Callicoon. In the near future, there will be donation drops-off sites in Liberty and Fallsburg.

CRMC accepting donations to help fight coronavirus

HARRIS, NY — The Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Foundation has created an emergency coronavirus fund to help purchase specialized equipment needed by hospital staff to care for patients as the need arises.

 “Every hour brings a new reality and an unexpected challenge,” said CRMC Foundation President Joan Farrow. “We are so thankful to the donors and community members who have been stepping forward—donating food, needed items and monetary donations.”
