The strength of what unites us

The voters have spoken. While the outcome of the presidential election is not what we had hoped, our commitment to justice does not end at the ballot box. We will continue to fight every day for working people, public education, and the communities we serve.

NYSUT members worked hard on behalf of our endorsed candidates, and we are proud that five of our priority congressional candidates have been elected in key districts, including NYSUT member and former public school teacher John Mannion, and that Proposal 1 to enshrine our rights in our state constitution has passed.

Even in uncertainty about the future, our mission does not waver. We will continue to fight to find common ground over chaos. We will trust in the strength of collective action. What unites us is stronger than what divides us, and we look forward to fighting alongside our new and old allies in Albany and Washington to protect public education, the labor movement and the rights of working families across New York.
