The mystery of the glow

During the past two years, we’ve all spent a lot of time wearing masks to protect ourselves and others from COVID. I wanted to depict masked people sitting outdoors and having a conversation. Since I enjoy portraying themes of mystery, I leave it to the viewer to determine who or what the glowing empty chair represents.

Erica Hart’s mixed-media piece, “The Visitor,” is included in “Made in NY 2022,”an annual juried exhibit of work by New York State artists at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn. The exhibit runs through May 15.
