SEEDS annual meeting

HONESDALE, PA — On Tuesday evening, September 17, SEEDS (Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support) will hold its annual meeting for both members and the curious at The Cooperage.

Attendees will find out about the status of the strategic planning process launched in January, hear about new initiatives from the folks spearheading fresh organizational growth, talk to SEEDS volunteers to find your fit with the region’s decade-long leader of sustainability initiatives, check out its electric vehicle display and talk to the owners, explore an array of interesting items in a solar device display and potentially win a door prize.

Free diabetes prevention program

HARRIS, NY — Catskill Regional Medical Center will offer a free 12-month diabetes prevention program beginning on Thursday, September 12. Meetings will take place on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Community Health Education Center located at 68 Harris-Bushville Rd.

The criteria for entry into the Diabetes Prevention Program includes being at least 18-years-old, having no previous diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes and having a blood test result in the pre-diabetes range within the past year and more.

Assistive tech discussion with GOT

HONESDALE, PA — Growing Older Together (GOT) will host a presentation, “What Are Assistive Technologies and How Can They Help?” on Wednesday, September 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Chamber of Commerce building community room located at 32 Commercial St. The event is free and open to all. Assistive technology (AT) is broad term that refers to any equipment that promotes independence by aiding with the completion of a task for people with, among other things, visual, hearing, or mobility impairment.

The mission of GOT is to give adult residents, aged 60 and older, in Wayne and western Pike counties, PA, and western Sullivan County, NY both the practical means and the connections to live independently in their homes.

HONESDALE, PA — The Cooperage will open its doors for the community to purchase locally produced and sourced products on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this fall and winter. Vendors can view requirements and apply by visiting www.thecooperageproject.org/markets/farmersmarket.

Delaware Company history classes almost in session

HURLEYVILLE, NY — Sullivan County Historian John Conway will be teaching six classes on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County Museum beginning on September 18. (There will be no class on October 9 because of Yom Kippur.)
