Summer days on the horizon

Posted

We are quickly moving towards Memorial Day Weekend, and with that the unofficial start of summer. School and extracurricular activities are in full swing; it is almost time to plant those gardens, and I can see those summer days coming over the horizon.

Here are some events happening in our communities and beyond:

Our Lady of the Lake is holding a Sausage and Pepper Lunch on Saturday, May 24 from noon to 2 p.m., and there’s a $12 suggested donation. Lunch includes a sausage-and-pepper sandwich, chips, macaroni salad and a brownie. Call Ann at 315/727-4446 or Peggy at 845/932-9988 with any questions.

Congratulations to the Diehl Me In IEA Western Middle School Team for earning their spot in the IEA Western National Finals! These outstanding individuals—Mia Powell, Abbie Haff, Kylie Houghtaling, Riley Eggleton and Lily Bressler—have not only qualified to compete on the grand stage in Fort Worth, TX, but also carry the distinct honor of being the only middle school team representing New York State. This achievement is a testament to their dedication, talent, hard work and coaching by Megan Diehl Blumenthal.

However, reaching the finals is just the beginning. The team needs your support to cover the necessary expenses to compete in this event. Your contributions will provide these young athletes with the opportunity to showcase their skills and experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Your generosity will leave a lasting impact on their journey and memories that will inspire their futures. Consider donating today—you’ll be a part of their success story. Thank you for your kindness and support in making these young athletes’ dreams come true. The donation link is here. Business sponsorship opportunities are also available.

It is an incredible accomplishment and honor for a team from the Sullivan Catskills to represent New York State in a national competition. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com for more information and sponsorship forms.

The Cochecton Volunteer EMS is looking for part-time residents who want to help their community. Whether you want to drive, support the team, or become an EMT, they’ll provide training, support and a crew that feels like family. No experience needed. Training is free. Flexible roles to match your schedule. Learn more at www.tinyurl.com/cvacapplication.

Lakeview Bar is having an Ultra Dance Night on Saturday, May 31, beginning at 8 p.m. ‘80s, ‘90s and 2000s music. Age 21 and older with a $10 entry fee. See you there!

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, get in touch. Email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events and happenings. Catch me online at www.everafterinthewoods.com for delicious recipes too!
