Sullivan West announces winter sports awards

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — What should have been a night of celebration for Sullivan West’s winter scholar-athletes got sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic. But not to be benched without a fight, the coach’s and the district’s athletic director put their heads together and selected the recipients for trophies in the realm of winter competition.

According to athletic director David Franskevicz, the coaches called the winners and arranged to have trophies delivered to the Bulldogs’ top dogs. “Then a video presentation will be released on YouTube,” he said of plans currently underway to make the awards a special virus-free event.

Coaches Award 2019-2020: Brielle Arnott, girls’ basketball
Most Valuable Player 2019-2020: Riley Ernst, girls’ basketball
Coaches Award 2019-2020: Ryan Mace, boys’ basketball
Most Valuable Player 2019-2020: -Gabe Campanelli, boys’ basketball
Most Valuable Sprinter 2019-2020: Roan Gillingham, boys’ winter track
Most Valuable Distance Runner 2019-2020: Bryce Maopolski, boys’ winter track
Most Valuable Track 2019-2020: Emily Bair, girls’ winter track
Most Valuable Field 2019-2020: Paige Parucki, girls’ winter track
Most Valuable Skier (Male) 2019-2020: Michael Rydell, alpine skiing
Most Valuable Skier (Female) 2019-2020: Lucia Kennedy, alpine skiing
Most Improved Skier (Male) 2019-2020: Zach Stevenson, alpine skiing
Coaches Award 2019-2020: Emily Mead, cheerleading
Most Spirited Cheerleader 2019-2020: Anabella Wagner, cheerleading
