MONTICELLO, NY– On Wednesday, August 23 2023 the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at Kaz’s Wines & Liquors in the Thompson Square Mall in Monticello.

The store employee had been injured when he confronted a shoplifter who was attempting to stuff some wine in his backpack and exit the store. The suspect fled the scene prior to the patrol’s arrival. After investigation, a suspect was identified as Jamil T. Fasenntao, 37, of Monticello.

 Fasenntao was charged with Felony Robbery and Misdemeanor Petite Larceny. He was arraigned before Thompson Town Justice Sharon Jankiewicz and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
