Spring has sprung at Honesdale High School

HONESDALE, PA — Spring is in full bloom at Honesdale High School, and students in the horticulture class have been busy transforming the greenhouse into a thriving hub of greenery. From seeding trays to transplanting plugs of vegetables, herbs and flowers, these dedicated students are preparing for one of the most anticipated events of the season—the annual Spring Plant Sale.

As part of the Agriculture Program and the Future Farmers of America (FFA), students at Honesdale High School spend the year learning hands-on skills in soil science, plant health, pest and disease management, plant anatomy and species identification. Their hard work culminates in this exciting springtime project, giving them a chance to showcase what they’ve learned and interact with the local community.

This year’s plant sale will be held on Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to noon at the high school greenhouse. The sale will feature a vibrant selection of student-grown vegetables, herbs and flowering plants—perfect for getting your garden off to a strong start.

In addition to bedding plants and garden starters, new this year are handcrafted mini bouquets and fresh-cut lettuce grown through sustainable aquaponic and hydroponic systems. It’s a great opportunity to support local students, celebrate the arrival of spring, and bring home some beautiful and delicious additions to your home or garden.

The high school is located at 459 Terrace St.

Come out and support our student growers—you won’t want to miss it!
