Springtime is such a mix of anticipation and surprise, isn’t it? Just when you think it’s all about the blooming flowers and fresh garden vibes, Mother Nature likes to throw in a few unexpected storms. It’s like she’s keeping us on our toes, making sure we’re ready for anything from sunny days to sudden downpours. But hey, those April showers do bring those beautiful May flowers, so it’s all worth it when you see your garden in full bloom.
Here are some events happening our communities and beyond:
There will be a penny social on May 10 at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and calling begins at 12:30 p.m. Beverages and hot dogs and sauerkraut are on offer, plus chips. Coffee and cake will be served after the calling. It’s sponsored by the Ladies Aid Society. See you there!
The Cochecton Men’s Club will be holding its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. sharp. Join the Easter Bunny at the Cochecton Men’s Sports Complex. See you there for a hoppin’ good time.
Join the New Cochecton Youth Commission on Sunday, April 6 to see “A Minecraft Movie” at the Callicoon Theater. The movie starts at 2 p.m. Sign-ups for this event will be held on Tuesday, April 1 from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the lower level of the Cochecton Town Hall. Sign-ups for this event will close at 7:15 p.m. on April 1. If you have questions, contact Krissy at 845/807-8003.
Each Cochecton youth will receive a movie ticket, a small drink, a small popcorn, and a box of candy.
All adults and out-of-town guests will pay at the door.
This program is funded by the County of Sullivan and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services through the Sullivan County Youth Bureau.
A concert will be held at the Arts Nest. It’s an event sponsored by the Delaware Valley Opera, and it takes place on Saturday, April 19 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Electric Cords will perform. The band is a dynamic modern power trio that electrifies audiences with a unique blend of rock, blues, funk and soul. Renowned for their powerful performances and original compositions, they have carved out a distinctive niche in the modern music scene. Be sure to grab tickets.
The Delaware Youth Center is holding a Spring Garden and Craft Fair on May 31 and the center is calling for vendors. Space reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions, visit delawareyouthcenter.org or email events@delawareyouthcenter.org.
