PIKE AND WAYNE COUNTIES, PA — The numbers are up and the funding is down. Due to the rising cost of food the number of seniors who need home-delivered meals has grown in both Wayne and Pike counties. In Pike, the number is over 1,000 meals per week.
A $20 donation would help feed a senior for a week.
The federal government, local funds and the Pennsylvania Lottery provide only a portion of the total cost.
This is why area agencies on aging depend so much on donations.
To continue and increase quality meal service, they need your help.
In Pike County, you can donate via PayPal at www.pikeaaa.org or send a check made out to the Pike County Area Agency on Aging and mailed to Pike County Area Agency on Aging, 150 Pike County Blvd., Hawley, PA 18428.
In Wayne County, checks can be payable to Wayne County Area Agency on Aging and mailed to 323 10th St., Honesdale, PA 18431.
Every spare dollar helps feed seniors who need home-delivered meals.
