Saying goodbye

Happy New Year to all.

In my last column, I said I had a surprise to tell you.

I am a little sad to tell you this is my final column. I am retiring on December 31.

The column was handed down to me by Ethel Hulse and my first column was on June 23, 2011.

I am now handing it down to Ethel’s grandson’s wife, Jenn Powell. I had the honor of writing this column for over 10 years, and in that time only two people publicly made it known that they did not like Lake Huntington News. I am sure you all know what I think of them.

I have been blessed with the best readers. I have made so many friends. I could be in the supermarket, getting gas, or just out and about, and someone would say to me, “Are you Eileen? I love reading your column.” We would have a nice chat and I would try to put them in for the next week’s column.

My birthday is December 30; I will be 62. I am going to collect Social Security. I want to live life and enjoy my family and hopefully get back into taking vacations.

I really appreciate all of you who gave me something to write about, those of you who love our town as much as I do. We might be a small town but we have a lot going on around our beautiful lake.

I am still going to be your tax collector.

I want to thank you all for being a part of Lake Huntington News.  If you have any news you would like to get out there, you can email Jenn at Jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com.

Keep smiling. Love, peace, health and happiness in 2022.

Love,

Your friend, Eileen Hennessy
