Robert P. ‘Bob’ Jeffer Sr.

Robert P. “Bob” Jeffer Sr., of Shohola, PA a retired mason and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. The son of the late Richard and Mathilda (DeHaan) Jeffer, he was born January 6, 1938, in Paterson, NJ. He was 83 years old. 

Bob was married for 50 years to Patricia (Woortman) Jeffer; she survives. Bob was a member of the Barryville United Methodist Church, Barryville, NY. He was a member of the Shohola Area Lions, a life member of the Midland Park Fire Department and a life member of the Grandview Rod and Gun Club. Bob was a member of the Panther Creek Club. Bob played semi-pro baseball for the Midland Park Rangers. He had played baseball up till the last 20 years of his life. 

A family statement reads, “Bob was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. He had a wonderful voice and could sing any song, leaving us with such treasured memories, such as Bob singing to his daughter on her wedding day. He was a special person who influenced everyone to be the person that they are now. He will truly be missed by all.” 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat”; his four children Robert Jeffer Jr. of Hawthorne, NJ, Ronda Jeffer of Albany, NY, Tara Jeffer of Midland Park, NJ, and Jerry Jeffer and wife Laura of Stroudsburg, PA; his grandchildren Alfanso Ferrera, Gwyneth Jeffer and Greta Jeffer; his brothers Richard G. Jeffer and Peter A. Jeffer of Midland Park, NJ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Bob is predeceased by his daughter, Lori Melnyk. 

A future gathering will be announced to celebrate Bob’s life in the summer.
