JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Saturday, August 10, as part of its slate of ongoing events, the group Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan (JEMS) sponsored “A Touch of Germany,” with a chamber string quartet performance celebrating some of the great composers of Germany.

Held at the First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville, featuring a quartet from the Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra, the church provided the perfect setting for this performance in both acoustics and ambiance.

The audience enjoyed music performed by musicians as skilled and as well practiced as you could want.

Introduced by Marina Lombardi, general manager of Nesin Cultural Arts, the quartet was comprised of Sullivan County Orchestra manager and violinist Akiko Hosoi, cellist Luke Krafka, viola player Drew Ricciardi and violinist Adrienne Harmon—all incredibly talented performers who made the night one to remember.

The performance was well programmed, starting with Haydn’s Emperor Quartet, Movement 2, and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in D Major, Opus 44, No.1. After intermission, they played “Evening Prayer” from Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel and a Brahms quartet, ending with a Kurt Weil quartet arrangement. The hard work, dedication and talent that this group displayed was inspiring.
