The president wants to be king. He wants to rule without regard to the Constitution and the rights of individuals. His ridiculous executive order on “Maintaining Water Pressure in Showerheads” is an example of this when it states, “Notice and comment is unnecessary because I am ordering the repeal.”
The “notice and comment” process is a formal process allowing the public and experts to express opinions before a rule goes into effect. So, the man who wants to be king takes that right away merely because “I am ordering the repeal.” What important regulation is next on the want-to-be king’s agenda?
And now to a more obviously serious concern. If the man who wants to be king can deport immigrants under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 without due process because he orders it so, what will he do to those who express an opinion different than that of the want-to-be king? Christopher Krebs and Miles Taylor, both former Trump officials, publicly expressed disagreement with Trump in his first term and he fired them. Now Trump is ordering the Department of Justice to target them for investigation.
If this retaliation can happen to Krebs and Taylor, it can happen to any of us. The man who wants to be king is vindictive, and he is the one weaponizing the government against people who merely disagree with him. It could now be possible that any one of us could be targeted and deported without due process merely because we disagree with the man who would be king and want to exercise our freedom-of-speech rights.
