HONESDALE, PA — The Honesdale High School Hornets boys’ varsity basketball team wrapped up its season with an overall record of 2-9 (0.18 win percentage) and posted a 2-5 Lackawanna League record.

At home, the team was 0-3, won one of their away contests (1-5) and was 1-1 in the neutral zone.

The Hornets are coached by Nick Joyal and assisted by Steve Langendoerfer who, when not in the role of assistant helmsman, takes a few snaps for the high school yearbook. Also involved are Josh LoBasso, Lisa Hugaboom (scorebook) and trainer Deidre Patrisso.

February 11, 2021: The Cavaliers of Scranton Prep defeated Honesdale 66-34.

February 13, 2021: The Buckhorns of Wallenpaupack Area defeated Honesdale 49-30.

February 17, 2021: Honesdale defeated Western Wayne 56-42.

February 23, 2021: The Knights of Scranton defeated Honesdale 78-48.

February 25, 2021: Delaware Valley defeated Honesdale 64-53.

February 26, 2021: The Comets of Abington Heights defeated Honesdale 54-48.

March 6, 2021: The Hornets closed out the season with a 66-48 loss to the Dallas Mountaineers in a non-conference game.

In the Hornets’ last game of the year against Dallas, the Mountaineers outpaced the Hornets 16-5 in the first frame, edged them 20-11 in the second and out gunned them 20-12 in the third. In the final period, Honesdale stung the opposition 20-10.
