HAWLEY, PA — It’s been a year since the Whitman family chose NAMI Northeast PA (NAMI) to take over the Hawley Spring Run.
NAMI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping build better lives for anyone affected by mental illness. NAMI provides education, information and support—at no charge—to people in Northeast PA.
This year, the race theme is A Race for Mental Wellness. It focuses on raising awareness about mental health and mental wellness, and the resources available in the community. It’s in the same spirit that Sheila Whitman did in her efforts to raise awareness for suicide prevention in the memory of her son Tyler, NAMI wrote.
This year it will be held at Bingham Park on Sunday, June 2, and there will be an option to participate online.
NAMI is calling for sponsors. The race is a timed 5K run/walk with T-shirts, trophies, medals, music, refreshments and mental-wellness materials available.
In addition to supporting NAMI programs, a sponsorship will help support an annual scholarship/prize to a Wallenpaupak Area High School senior.
Businesses can donate gift certificates and/or baskets for the raffle.
