Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:

Toy Garrett, age 47, of Scranton, PA, was sentenced to 4 years to 8 years in a state correctional facility, fined $3,500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for a duration to be determined by PennDOT for the crimes of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Escape and Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance. The state police observed Garrett riding in a vehicle with an incorrect license plate on July 8, 2020, along I-84 in Greene Township.  When contact was made with Garrett and the driver, an odor of Marihuana was detected and Garrett was observed with Marihuana on his shirt.  Garrett got into the driver seat of the vehicle and sped off driving in excess of 100 mph. Garrett was in possession of a pound of Marihuana, which he threw out of the vehicle while fleeing.  The Marihuana was recovered by the Pennsylvania State Police. 

Elizabeth Marie Guerin, age 34, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to the Pike Care Program which will include 5 years of probation, 90 days of house arrest, a fine of $1,500.00 and driver’s license suspension of 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  Guerin was stopped by the state police on January 5, 2021, when she was observed traveling over the solid yellow line along SR 739 in Delaware Township.  The trooper observed Guerin to have bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, appearing dazed and emanating the smell of an alcoholic beverage.  Guerin admitted to drinking prior to driving.  Field Sobriety Tests showed impairment and a blood test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .211%.

Jerry Patrick Laird, age 35, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $900.00 for the crimes of Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a Small Amount of Marihuana and the Summary Offense of Harassment.  Laird was the occupant of a fatal vehicle accident on December 20, 2019, on Milford Road in Delaware Township.  Laird attempted to flee the scene of the accident and force had to be employed to apprehend him. On January 23, 2021, the state police were dispatched to a residence in Delaware Township for a domestic situation involving Laird in which Laird harassed and struck an individual.  Laird was also found in possession of Marihuana.

William Joseph Mayes, age 52, of Greentown, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $300.00 for the crime of Harassment.  Mayes communicated threatening words towards an individual at a residence in Greene Township on October 28, 2019.

Jeffrey Christopher Steiger, age 28, of Lackawaxen, PA, was sentenced to 1 year to 7 years in a state correctional facility, fined $2,700.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The state police were dispatched to I-84 in Blooming Grove Township on November 12, 2019, where Steiger had crashed his vehicle in the berm of the interstate.  Steiger presented with dilated, unreactive pupils, a raspy low voice and acted in a state of confusion.  Steiger revealed that he had snorted Heroin while driving down the highway.  A blood test confirmed the presence of Acetyl Fentanyl and Fentanyl in his body.  Glassine packs were also located in Steiger’s vehicle.

John Higgins Curwood, age 80, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 6 months to 12 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 2 years of probation and a fine of $400.00 for the crimes of Stalking, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief and 1 count of Terroristic Threats. During a domestic dispute on November 9, 2020, at a residence in Dingman Township, Curwood screamed obscenities and threatened to kill an individual. Between December 15, 2020, and January 6, 2021, at various locations in Pike County, Curwood violated a Protection from Abuse Order on four separate occasions in order to create fear. Curwood slashed the tires of an individual’s vehicle causing $500.00 in damages on January 8, 2021, at a business parking lot in Westfall Township.

Nicholas George Stasolla, age 26, of Bushkill, PA, was sentenced to 5 days to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $300.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  Stasolla was stopped by the state police for speeding along Bushkill Falls Road in Lehman Township on October 13, 2020.  The trooper observed Stasolla to have bloodshot eyes and emitting the smell of an alcoholic beverage.  Stasolla admitted to drinking prior to driving.  Field Sobriety Tests were conducted which indicated impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .083%.

Gerry Lee Butler, age 57, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 120 days to 5 years in the Pike County Jail, fined $4,500.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 30 months for 2 counts of the crime of Driving Under the Influence and 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of Children. Eastern Pike Regional Police were dispatched to a business parking lot in Westfall Township on August 28, 2020, where Butler was passed out in his vehicle.  Contact was made with Butler who was observed to be shaking and had constricted pupils.  Field Sobriety Tests were conducted which showed impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of Fentanyl and Morphine in his body.  Butler had three minor children in his vehicle with him. The state police were dispatched to I-84 in Milford Township where Butler was unresponsive in his vehicle on May 22, 2020.  A blood test confirmed the presence of Fentanyl and THC in his body.

Kelly Theresa Rolph, age 55, of Vernon, NJ, was sentenced to 48 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $500.00 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  The state police came upon Rolph whose vehicle had struck a utility pole along SR 6 in Paupack Township on October 19, 2019.  The trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage when speaking with Rolph and observed her to have bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.  A blood test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .135%.

Cameron Scott James, age 24, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to the Pike Care Program for 6 months which will include 30 days of house arrest, a fine of $1,900.00 and driver’s license suspension of 12 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and Possession of a Small Amount of Marihuana.  The state police were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on July 4, 2020, where James drove off of Route 590 in Lackawaxen Township and hit a utility pole.  James was found asleep behind the wheel at the crash with the vehicle still in drive and running.  James appeared disoriented with glassy, bloodshot eyes and emanating the smell of an alcoholic beverage and Marihuana.  Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .095%.  James was also found in possession of Marihuana.

Timothy Frederic Berger, age 28, of Greentown, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and a fine of $600.00 for the crime of Disorderly Conduct and the Summary Offense of Harassment.  Berger acted in a belligerent manner at a business in Westfall Township on April 7, 2020.  Berger was asked by management to leave the store.  Berger refused and continued his behavior until be was removed by the police.  

Donnavin Rico Saintil, age 21, of Bushkill, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $200.00 for the crime of Simple Assault.  During a domestic dispute on December 12, 2019, at a residence in Lehman Township, Saintil struck an individual in the face causing injury.
