Pike County criminal sentences issued

Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued the week of June 1, 2020 by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:

Aleksandr Grigorev, 47, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 54 months to 192 months in a state correctional facility, followed by 36 months of probation and fined $2,500 for the crimes of Aggravated Indecent Assault, and two counts of Corruption of Minors. Grigorev was determined to be a Tier III sexual violent predator following a hearing and will be required to register with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in accordance with Megan’s Law as a sexual offender for the remainder of his life. Between April of 2005 and April of 2011, at a residence in Delaware Township, Grigoryev penetrated the genitals and engaged in sexual activity with an individual under the age of 13 years.

Cody Hamm, 31, of Prompton, PA, was sentenced to four to eight months in the Pike County Jail and fined $300 for the crime of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Hamm took a vehicle from a residence in Shohola on July 2, 2018, without the owner’s permission.

Zachary Ray Simmons, 22, of East Stroudsburg, PA, was sentenced to six months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. State police were dispatched to Woodbridge Road in Lehman Township where Simmons had driven his vehicle into a ditch. The faint odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and the admission to drinking prior to driving resulted in Field Sobriety Tests which showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .90 percent.

Christopher David Pannella, 26, of Franklin, NJ, was sentenced to 12 months of probation, fined $500 and a driver’s license suspension for a duration to be determined by PennDOT for the crime of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. Pannella failed to pull his motorcycle over when authorized to do so by an officer of the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department on July 13, 2019, along Route 6 and 209 in Westfall Township.

Ernest A. Strunck, 65, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 11.5 to 23.5 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $500 for the crime of Burglary. Strunck broke into a commercial building located along Route 6 and 209 in Milford Township on May 24, 2019, and took various items without the permission of the property owner.

Sergey Smirnov, 33, of Bushkill, PA, was sentenced to 6 months to 23.5 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 12 months of probation and fined $1,500 for the crime of Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance. The state police responded to a residence in Lehman Township for a report of a burglary and erratic behavior of the resident on December 16, 2018. Smirnov was found in possession of Psilocybin mushrooms and Psilocyn.

Travis Walter Corter, 25, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 1 month to 4 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $300 for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance to run consecutively with his prior conviction of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Corter missed an appointment with the Probation Office on June 21, 2019. When Corter was located at a residence in Blooming Grove Township, he was found in possession of Heroin.

Mirella Maria Smith, 60, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 1 month and 72 hours to 18 months in the Pike County Jail, a fine of $1,100 and a driver license suspension of 12 months for two counts of the crime of Simple Assault and Driving Under the Influence. State police were dispatched to Lakeview Drive in Delaware Township on December 6, 2019, where Smith was passed out behind the wheel off her vehicle. Smith was incapable of performing Field Sobriety Tests. A breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .231 percent. On January 1, 2020, during a domestic dispute at a residence in Delaware Township, Smith caused bodily injury to two individuals.

Charles Hubschmitt, 37, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 231 days to 23.5 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $800 for the crimes of Simple Assault and Institutional Vandalism. Hubschmitt injured an individual during a dispute at a residence in Dingman Township on October 17, 2019, and will at the state police barracks in Blooming Grove, spit on the floors and bench requiring sanitation procedures be conducted.

Randy James Hotaling, 26, of Shohola, PA, was sentenced to 10 months to 23 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 1 year of probation and fined $800 for the crimes of Criminal Use of Communication Facility and Invasion of Privacy. A hearing determined that Hotaling was a Tier one sexual offender and will be required to register with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a sexual offender for the next 15 years. Hotaling used a cell phone to attempt to film a 12-year-old female showering at a residence in Lackawaxen Township on July 14, 2018.

Joseph John Greb, 51, of Tafton, PA, was sentenced to two to six months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. Greb was stopped by the state police on May 9, 2019, for operating his vehicle several times across the double yellow lines of Gumbletown Road in Palmyra Township. Greb was observed to have glassy eyes, slurred speech and emitting the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .116 percent.

Nelson Gonzalez, 40, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to three years of probation and fined $1,000 for the crimes of Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest. The state police were dispatched to a residence in Dingman Township on July 27, 2019, where during a domestic dispute, Gonzalez injured an individual and when placed under arrest, resisted the trooper’s directive.

Nichole Mary Quattrochi, 45, of Mt. Pocono, PA, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined $800 for the crimes of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Endangering the Welfare of Children. Quattrochi was found using and possessing drugs at a residence in Lehman Township on October 18, 2018, creating an unsafe setting for a 5-year-old child present at that location.

Timothy Scott Phillips, 53, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 30 days to six months in the Pike County Jail, fined $750 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police responded to Route 6 and Shook Road in Palmyra Township on July 24, 2018, where Phillips had fallen off his electric pedal cycle. Phillips admitted to drinking liquor prior to riding the cycle. A breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .173 percent.

Shaun Best, 25, of East Stroudsburg, PA, was sentenced to three years of probation, fined $800 and had his driver’s license suspended for a duration to be determined by PennDOT for two counts of the crime of Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and the Summary Offenses of Required Financial Responsibility and Reckless Driving. Best recklessly operated his vehicle when he swerved at on-coming traffic along Milford Road in Lehman Township on March 17, 2019, striking another vehicle and causing it to roll over resulting in the injury of the two occupants. Best was also found to be operating a vehicle without insurance.
