Pike Agency on Aging receives Subaru Share the Love event donation

PIKE COUNTY, PA ― Pike County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) partnered with Subaru for its 13th annual Share the Love event. During the holiday season, for every new vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru donates $250 to charity. Participants are able to choose from four national or over 1,440 hometown charities. Over the life of the event, Subaru has donated over $200 million to charity.

This past year was the first year the AAA participated in this promotion. The event was promoted by email, the AAA website, and on various AAA social media sites including Facebook and Instagram. Through this partnership and community participation, Subaru donated $3,318 to Pike County AAA. “The funds will be used for the Meals on Wheels program. In addition to supplying meals, a portion of the profits will be used towards equipment upgrades including freezer and refrigeration units,” says AAA Executive Director Robin Skibber. AAA plans to participate in this event again in the future.

The Meals on Wheels program is
committed to fighting hunger by delivering nutritious meals to eligible seniors. “One in four seniors lives alone in isolation and one in seven seniors might not know from where their next meal in coming.” In Pike County, the number of meals being delivered weekly has grown to nearly 1,000 meals. Donations to the program are welcomed. There is also the option to sponsor a senior.
