THOMPSON, NY -- On Wednesday, January 31, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 report of a pedestrian struck by a car at 85 Anawana Lake Road in the Town of Thompson.
Deputies found a victim who had been loading construction equipment on a trailer when he was struck by a 2021 Hyundai Tucson that was travelling eastbound. The driver of the Tuscon stopped and remained on the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead by Sullivan County coroner Alan Kesten. He was identified as 22-year-old Alexander Ramirez Tello of Woodridge, NY. He was working for a construction company at the Miami Beach Cottages near Rhapsody Lane.
No arrests were made at the scene, but the matter remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by state police, the Monticello Fire Department, Mobile Medic and Hatzolah EMS.
